The Himalayan region of Asia is rich in its interconnectedness to the rest of the world.  It sit on the edge of the Himalayan Mountains, the Silk Road, and trade route to Southeast Asia.  The religious traditions, river valley's and mountains, and political traditions make it a region of importance from the ancient times to today.  This region will impact your study of the Indus River Valley civilization, the development and spread of Hinduism and Buddhism, modern conflicts with borders and human rights, as well as sources of amazing art work, literature, and traded goods.  Though the Himalayas are at the rooftop of the world, they impact the development of art, literature, religion, and politics at every elevation.  Map of the Silk Road
