1. GEOGRAPHY:

When teaching a certain area or a country, studying geography always comes first because geography plays an important part in people's lives. Located in the plateau which is from 8000 feet to 14000 feet high, Tibet has a unique geographical environment separated from the outside world, which enables it to create and develop its own culture, religion and life style. In teaching Tibet's geography the following resources could be very useful. " Himalaya: Life on the Edge of the World" written by David Zurick and P.P. Karan (P.3-20) , serves as a valuabe resource of providing the geographical information of the Himalayan Region and Tibet. The maps produced by the National Geographic Society will be of great value, too. One can get them either by writing to the following address: National Geographic Society, P.O.Box 10597, Des Moines, IA 50340-0597 or by calling 1-800-368-2728. The product number is 86337.
