3. RELIGION:

Tibetan Buddhism derived from Indian Buddhism is unique and fascinating. It has a great influence in Mongolia, Nepal, Bhutan, North India and South-west China. Nowadays it is gaining popularity in the western world. The book " Words of My Perfect Teacher" by Patrul Rinpoche translated by the Padmakara Translation Group is one of the best resources to introduce Tibetan Buddhism. It is well- written and clearly explains the doctrines of Tibetan Buddhism. It covers all the essential points of the path to practise the Dharma in one's life. "The Essence of Tibetan Buddhism" by Lama Thubten Yeshe is a great book. He uses simple language to teach the three principal aspects of the Path. In addition to that, Professor Todd T. Lewis' lectures and handouts on Buddhism and the Buddha's life stories will also be used in my classroom.
