About the Author:
I teach Global History &
Geography at Ichabod Crane
High School in Valatie, New
York. My desire
for knowledge led me to pursue
various consortium's, institutes, and seminars in order to deepen my
understanding of global history and world religions.
This website is the result of my studies at the College of the Holy Cross
under the direction of master scholars. In
addition, this site serves as a venue to
share my findings with teachers and students across the United States.
For teachers or students who
would like to know more about
my own academic background before using information or lessons from
this
website in research your classrooms, I have a B.A. in Political Science
from The Ohio State University and an
M.A.T. for grades 7-12 Social Studies,
with an
emphasis on world history and East Asian history, from Union Graduate
College. As part of the National
Consortium for Teaching About Asia, through the Freeman Foundation and
the Five
College Center for East Asian Studies, I completed an in-depth
overview of
East Asian history, religion, and art. For
teachers and students interested in citing this website in their
research,
please email me.
I would like to thank my husband for his
constant support,
patience, and willingness to provide website support at all hours of
the day or
night; to my family for their support, encouragement, and love; and to
my
students who will hopefully learn to never stop learning.
In addition, I would like to
thank Professors Todd Lewis, College
of the Holy Cross,
and Leonard van der Kuijp, Harvard
University, for
their inspiration, knowledge, and willingness to include classroom
teachers in
the larger academic conversation and to Maureen Stephens, Director of
the Teacher Center for Global Studies at Clark University, for her
unwavering
support of teachers and for her assistance creating a quality
educational
product. I would also like to thank the
College of the Holy Cross for their warm welcome and hospitality during
my
stay.
