Lesson 3: Creating Religious Posters

Objectives:
    Students will be able to:
1. Understand the basic concepts of Hinduism and Buddhism
2. Compare and contrast Hinduism and Buddhism

Materials:
1. Poster board
2. Colored markers, pencils, etc
3. Reference material, textbooks, etc.

Activity:
1. Place students in-groups of 3-4 and assign each group a specific religion to become experts on.
2. Have students first take notes on the following topics for their assigned religion
-Key figures
- Important writings
- Belief system
- Ways of worship
- History
- Belief in God
- Current population, concentrated in which countries
3. After review notes, have students create a propaganda poster.  Express to the class that their poster is to be a symbolic work of art expressing an opinion in order to influence the thoughts and feelings of an individual. 
Conclusion:
1. Display posters around the classroom
2. Give each group 5 minutes to view the poster and fill-out of the following chart
