Theme Video Games
Unit Overview

We want to design a video game with educational purposes.  This project helps us to apply math concepts and also learn how to present and explain the proposal of video games we design in Chinese.


Enduring Understanding Video games impact and change ways of learning.
Essential Questions

1. How can students benefit from playing video games?

2. Why do some people see video games as educational learning tools, but some don’t?

Summative assessments


Assessment 1: Video Game Design Competition
Students work in pairs to create a video game that helps their learning.  Each pair writes a proposal to describe their game in Chinese and submit it to a video game competition.  

Assessment 2: Reading assessment

Students read information presented in video-game proposals.  Each student votes for their favorite one and explain why.
