Dr. Michael Everson is Professor Emeritus, University of Iowa, where he taught for 18 years. Prior to that was an Associate Professor at the United States Air Force Academy. He is currently the Managing Editor of Foreign Language Annals, the journal of ACTFL. Dr. Everson received his Ph.D. in Foreign Language Education from The Ohio State University. |

Dr. Helen Shen is Professor of Chinese and Academic Coordinator for the Chinese Program at the University of Iowa. Her research interests include literacy development in Chinese with focus on orthographic knowledge development and cognitive process of Chinese characters; reading education in Chinese with focus on reading comprehension, reading assessment and testing, and reading diagnosis and remediation; instructional theories in teaching Chinese as a second language with focus on classroom learning and teaching psychology and methodology. Dr. Shen received her Ph.D. in Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. |

Dr. Yongfang Zhang is Assistant Professor of Chinese Studies, at Wofford College. Her research focuses on reading in Chinese, and in the use of authentic materials in the CFL curriculum. Dr. Zhang received her Ph.D. in Foreign Language Pedagogy from The Ohio State University. |
